VALHALLA MILE FUNDRAISER at The White Pines Dojo - Slocan Valley, BC
Contra Dance! 8 pm Saturday November 29th 2008

The Valhalla Mile
The White Pines Dojo is hosting their second Contra Dance!
to help raise funds for the purchase and protection of The Valhalla Mile - a mile of pristine lakeshore, on the west shore of Slocan lake, in the middle of the Valhalla Provincial Park. The Land Conservancy and the Valhalla Foundation are the two organizations working together to raise 1.5 million required to purchase the land and include it into the Park.
We are very excited to bring the supreme Kootenay Kontra Band from Nelson out to the valley again for this event. In Contra dance, a caller, working with a group of live musicians playing jigs and reels, guides new and experienced dancers alike through a variety of dances. Dave Cornelius from Rossland will be coming out to be our caller for this event along with Connie Davis of Nelson who will lead us in a few international dances. Contra dance is sometimes described as ‘high voltage barn dancing’ or 'fun beyond words' and no partner or experience is necessary.
There will be information and a representative from the Valhalla Foundation available at the event.
The White Pines Dojo is a beautiful straw bale aikido training center situated on 20 gorgeous acres located one mile south of Slocan City. The whole community is invited to come celebrate and support this beautiful and fun event. Suggested minimum donation at door is $10-$20
